MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace compares DeSantis, Youngkin education bills to Russian soldiers raping children
Deadline: White House host Nicolle Wallace on Wednesday denounced the recent education bills passed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin as a “dehumanizing” tactic.
During her MSNBC show, she spoke with Bulwark writer Tim Miller about Republican DeSantis and Youngkin’s recent efforts to delegate parental rights in their states’ education laws. These bills were heavily criticized by Democrats and media representatives, calling the DeSantis bill “Don’t Talk Gay.

Wallace went a step further, accusing the governor and others like him of using war tactics against children.
“I am concerned, in describing Glenn Youngkin and his policy of” choosing parents “, all the emphasis was on how well it worked. And even our discussions of DeSantis are about how well they serve him, ”Wallace said. “The truth is dehumanization as a tactic for politics comes from war. Dehumanization is the tactic speaking now as Russians force soldiers to rape children by dehumanizing them. Dehumanization as a practice is a politician’s war tactic, and people like you and I sometimes lose the plot and admire its effectiveness, not its content.”

She later added, “But even his analysis loses sight of what this speech brings us back to, and dehumanization now comes at a cost because it is implemented. Chasten Buttigieg drew attention to this when the introduction of Don’t Ask, Don’t Speak. The children will die. How do you bring it back to the essence of the damage done by any war strategy and politics of dehumanizing people?”

“Yes, I think that’s true,” replied Miller. “Their cruelty and inhuman behavior are unforgivable.”
Later on the show, Wallace spoke with MSNBC associate Matthew Dowd, who likewise described the bills as a war tactic.
“This is a war tactic. We are in a cultural war. This is the culture war started by the Republicans against the country and the Democrats, ”said Dowd.
