Ex-Bernie flack cheers on corporate lobbyists: ‘My money is on the Disney lobbyists, honey’
On Wednesday, MSNBC’s former advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders I-Vt in the 2016 presidential campaign cheered as Disney’s lobbyists beat Governor Ron DeSantis of R-Fla.
Symone Sanders, who worked on the Democratic Socialist presidential campaign, told MSNBC host Chuck Todd that she would be rooting for the corporation in the battle between DeSantis and Disney.
DeSantis attacked Disney this week, asking the state legislature to lift the company’s special council privilege in Florida.

MTP Daily host Chuck Todd suggested to his panel that DeSantis was not wise to fight Disney.
“And I know whacking corporations is popular on the left and right these days,” he said, then warned that he would “be careful” when confronted by a powerful corporation like Disney.
Surprisingly, his progressive guest was completely occupied by a huge corporation.

“Oh, my money is from the Disney lobbyists, baby.” My money is from Disney lobbyists. Do you think these state legislatures in Florida will bend the deal to the Governor’s will? ” Sanders asked.
Earlier that day, the Florida Senate responded to DeSantis’ call by voting to abolish the corporate self-government privileges it had enjoyed for over 50 years.
Todd noticed this from Sanders’ comments.
“Incidentally, the Florida legislature, the state senate just passed a bill to deprive Disney of special access,” he said.

Just before this exchange, the panel discussed DeSantis as a presidential candidate 2024 and a potential opponent of President Biden.
Sanders praised the Governor of Florida for keeping the state open during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I was critical of Governor DeSantis, and still am, during the COVID pandemic, but if you really look at the numbers, Florida has actually done well. He has a story to tell, ”she admitted.

Sanders was the national press secretary for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. Following the campaign, CNN hired her as a political commentator before leaving to work on Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. Following the 2020 election, Sanders became Senior Adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris. However, in December 2021, amid reports of a commotion among her employees, Sanders left the White House. In January, she was hired by MSNBC as a weekend host.
